Trainee Barista

About the Role

MA Café Borella seeks an enthusiastic Trainee Barista passionate about coffee and hospitality to join their growing team. No prior experience needed – comprehensive training in specialty coffee is provided over a 3–6 month period with advancement potential.

Responsibilities

• Support senior baristas in preparing espresso-based drinks and teas
• Learn espresso extraction, milk texturing, and latte art techniques
• Assist with food preparation and café operations
• Deliver accurate and attentive customer service
• Maintain café cleanliness and follow health and safety protocols
• Handle stock management and opening/closing duties
• Participate in training sessions and performance reviews

Requirements

• No prior barista experience required – comprehensive training provided
• Genuine interest in coffee, food, and hospitality
• Positive, friendly demeanour with eagerness to learn
• Proficiency in English; Sinhala and/or Tamil preferred
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments including weekends and holidays
